of a determined frequency band in teh Table of Frequency
Allocations, so that it is used by one or more terrestrial
or spatial radio communication services or for the radio
astronomy services according to specified conditions.
This term also applies to the frequency band being considered.

ALLOCATION OF A FREQUENCY OR OF A CHANNEL:
Authorization granted to a radio station for use of
a given radioelectric frequency or channel pursuant
to the conditions that have been specified.
back
ASSIGNED
FREQUENCY: The center of a frequency band
that has been assigned to a station.
back
ASSIGNED FREQUENCY BAND: It
is a frequency band admitting an authorized emission
for a given station; the band width is assigned so as
to ensure data transmission is done at the required
speed and quality and with the needed protection among
channels.
back
AUTHORIZED USE OF FREQUENCIES: An
administrative transaction whereby the necessary title
is granted for use of a given frequency or frequencies
within a previously assigned radio frequency spectrum.
back
AWARD OF A RADIOELECTRIC FREQUENCY
OR CHANNEL: Registration of a given channel
within a plan that has been adopted by a competent conference.
Such a plan needs to be used by one or several administrations
toward providing an terrestrial or spatial radio communication
service in one o several countries or geographic areas
- as established - and adhering to the pertinent conditions

It is the frequency band width used as a measurement
unit that serves as a reference for estimating tariffs.
back
